About me
I am a researcher, heritage practitioner, and writer based in Scotland. My work sits at the intersection of historical research, rural heritage, and digital-first public engagement, with a particular interest in how overlooked, everyday stories shape our understanding of place.
I’m starting an MLitt in History at UHI, where I am also an Associate Researcher - building on earlier postgraduate work in heritage interpretation, and community engagement. Across the projects I have worked on, I’ve collaborated with diverse organisations, community groups, museums, and cultural partners to help uncover, interpret, and share local histories in accessible and meaningful ways.
My approach is shaped by knowledge exchange: supporting people to articulate their own histories, experiences, and sense of place. Much of my practice explores how digital tools — from online storytelling to social media, audio, and visual content — can help connect local heritage with wider audiences without losing its nuance or rootedness.
My work is rooted in a deep interest in northern and coastal identities, community memory, and the ways everyday stories shape our sense of place.
As a writer, I specialise in interpreting the quieter side of history—translating research into clear, compelling narrative. I’m the author of The Deeside Way - A Companion Guide and a writer for Pursuing the Past, where I turn genealogical and archival research into richly told house histories.
